When Children Save the Day offers standards-based programs to build language arts skills and service learning experiences through active, real life opportunities.
To engage and empower young people our programs:
- Use a Language Arts Curriculum based on National Standards. It includes opportunities for reading, writing and oral language development.
- Offer a variety of activities to engage different learning styles. This means all students are included.
- Invite students to act as stakeholders: They make decisions about program activities and outcomes.
- Enable students to set their own goals.
- Encourage community relationships: From school to home to neighborhoods to international communities.
Our curriculum and classroom practice strive to be:
- Grounded in the lives of our students
- Multicultural, anti-racist, pro-justice
- Participatory and experiential
- Hopeful, joyful, kind, visionary
- Activist
- Academically rigorous
